Oral Health Exams & New Patient Exams in Kerrisdale

Every oral examination provides our team with an opportunity to check in on your overall oral health. Annual exams are important for everyone—from children to the elderly—because they allow us to continuously monitor for signs of issues and take preventative action. Whether it’s been a year or more, and whether you’ve seen our team before or not, we look forward to welcoming you to our dental clinic in Vancouver soon for an oral examination.

When Should I Book an Oral Health Exam?

Even when your teeth feel fine, a regular visit to the dentist is always recommended. This allows us to apply preventative care before issues become serious. Most people come to see us annually for an oral exam and dental hygiene appointment. However, everyone’s dental and oral health needs are different, so if you need to see us more often or less often, we’ll be sure to let you know what schedule we recommend.

What Should I Expect During My Exam?

An oral examination is typically quick and straightforward. Your dentist will examine your mouth carefully, checking the digital x-rays and looking inside your mouth. We’ll focus on your teeth during the appointment, but we also want to make sure your entire mouth, including your soft tissue, is looking and feeling healthy. Your dentist will also ask you some questions and may tap on your teeth or scrape them gently in certain places to check for weaknesses.

Dental Hygiene Appointments in Kerrisdale

While great oral hygiene undoubtedly starts at home, a professional cleaning from experienced dental hygienists on a regular basis is always recommended. Our tools and techniques can clean more deeply and thoroughly than at-home tools. We can also assess your oral health and make suggestions for brushing, flossing, and other at-home techniques, allowing you to extend that fresh feeling from your dental cleaning for longer.

A Healthy Smile Starts Here

Not every smile is the same, and that’s why our dental hygienists help you understand what you need to care for your smile. Every dental hygiene appointment is an opportunity to learn how to care for your teeth and gums at home to ensure you can chew, smile, and speak confidently. Even small adjustments and improvements can make a big difference over time.

Preventative Care for Your Teeth

During your appointment, we’ll be looking for signs of issues such as gum disease and tooth decay. When we can catch these issues early and provide preventative treatment, we can save you time, money, and discomfort. Often, simple cleaning techniques and at-home hygiene changes can help resolve issues before they become serious.
