Inlays and Onlays in Kerrisdale

Inlays and Onlays

Inlays and onlays are used to restore strength to weakened or broken teeth. Although similar to a dental filling, inlays and onlays are dental restorations that are created outside the mouth. They are typically used for larger areas on the back molars that need to be filled in, where composite fillings won’t be suitable.

Inlays vs. Onlays

While inlays and onlays are similar, there is one key difference between them. Inlays are restorations that are created for the space between the cusps (or outer ridges) of the molars. Meanwhile, onlays require the recreation of some or all of the cusps of the molars.

Strengthen & Restore the Teeth

Inlays and onlays help restore the bite, allowing you to chew confidently again. Whether you need an inlay or onlay, your dentist will help you prepare for the procedure ahead of time and give you specific after-care instructions for post-procedure care.
